Details

Breathy measures your blood alcohol concentration using a professional-grade fuel-cell sensor — the same sensing technology used in serious breathalysers, not the cheap semiconductor kind. A live digital display shows your exact BAC reading in seconds. Compact enough for any glovebox, handbag, or jacket pocket. Reading time under 5 seconds. Built-in rechargeable battery. Annual recalibration recommended for ongoing accuracy.

Breathy is a personal guide to help you make a better decision before you drive. It is not an evidential device and readings cannot be used in court. If you have been drinking, the safest choice is always to plan another way home.

How It Works

  1. Press the start button and wait for the ready signal (about 10 seconds).
  2. Blow steadily into the mouthpiece for around 5 seconds.
  3. Your BAC reads on the screen in seconds.
  4. See your number, make your call — wait it out, call a ride, or hand over the keys.

The point of Breathy is the decision you make before you reach the car. "I feel fine" isn't a number. Breathy is.

How Accurate Is Breathy

Breathy uses a fuel-cell sensor, the same class of technology trusted for professional breath testing, chosen because it reacts to alcohol specifically and resists false positives from things like acetone. It reads to three decimal places and stays consistent across thousands of tests.

No personal breathalyser is a substitute for an official police test, and readings can be affected by timing, residual mouth alcohol, and recent drinks — so wait at least 15–20 minutes after your last drink before testing. For best accuracy, recalibrate once a year. Treat your number as a guide to plan ahead, never as permission to drive.

Why "I feel fine" falls short.

Most drinkers go off how they feel. They count drinks, wait an hour, drink water. But two people can have the same drinks and land at completely different numbers — your weight, your last meal, your metabolism all change it. Feeling fine has nothing to do with what an RBT reads.

WHAT FEELING FINE MISSES

✕ "I feel fine" is the first thing alcohol switches off

✕ Counting drinks is already wrong by the second one

✕ "One drink an hour" is a rough guide, not your number

✕ Coffee, water and fresh air don't lower your BAC

✕ You're left with a guess — and RBT doesn't accept guesses

HOW BREATHY HELPS

✓ Shows your real BAC on a live digital display
✓ Professional-grade fuel-cell sensor, reads to 0.000
✓ Your exact number in about 5 seconds
✓ See it, then make the call — wait, ride, or hand over the keys
✓ 100-day risk-free trial, 3-year warranty

Decide before you reach the car.

Two drinks at dinner can put you over 0.05 and leave you feeling completely fine. Body weight, food, sleep, medication, stress, and the time between drinks all change your number — and none of them tell you what it actually is.

What knowing early changes

Your BAC can climb without you feeling it. When Breathy shows you your real number before you reach the car, you've still got time to wait it out, call a ride, or hand over the keys. That decision — made before the keys are in the ignition — is the entire difference.

The science behind Breathy

Three things a guess can't give you.

1

Measured, not assumed

Breathy uses a professional-grade fuel-cell sensor to give you your actual BAC reading — not a guess based on how you feel. Your body lies. The number doesn't.

2

Real numbers, not yes/no

Cheap servo breathalysers only tell you if alcohol is present. Breathy tells you exactly how much. The gap between 0.04 and 0.06 is the gap between driving home and losing your licence.

3

The decision happens before the keys

Knowing your number before you reach for the ignition is the entire point. Once you're driving, every option costs more. Once the lights are flashing behind you, your options are gone. Breathy lives in the moment where the right call still costs nothing.

Don't wait for the RBT to do it for you.

Police can pull you over anywhere, any time — and they ran over 10 million random breath tests last year. The real risk isn't getting tested. It's believing you're under, when feeling fine is the first thing alcohol takes away.

FAQs

Breathy Q&A

Breathy uses a professional-grade fuel-cell sensor — the same class of sensing technology used in serious breathalysers — and reads your BAC to three decimal places in about five seconds. It's built to give you a real, repeatable number instead of a guess. That said, Breathy is a personal guide, not an official evidential device, and its readings can't be used in court. For the most reliable result, wait at least 15–20 minutes after your last drink before testing.
No. Breathy is there to help you plan ahead and make a safer decision — to wait it out, call a ride, or hand over the keys. It is never a green light to drive after drinking, and a low reading is not a guarantee you're under the limit. The only completely safe choice after drinking is not to drive. Breathy simply gives you a real number to make that decision with, before you're anywhere near the ignition.
Because two people can have the exact same drinks and land at completely different numbers. Your weight, your last meal, sleep, medication, stress and the time between drinks all change how your body processes alcohol — and none of them tell you what your number actually is. "One drink an hour" is a rough guide, not a measurement. Breathy replaces the guess with a reading.
Breathy shows you your estimated BAC as a number on the screen, so you can see where you sit relative to the limit that applies to you. But your real BAC keeps changing as your body absorbs and clears alcohol, and personal devices aren't a substitute for an official police test. Treat your reading as a guide to plan ahead — never as permission to drive. If there's any doubt, don't drive.
Very. Press the button, wait for the ready signal (about 10 seconds), blow steadily into the mouthpiece for around five seconds, and your number appears on the screen. It's compact enough for a glovebox, handbag or jacket pocket, and the built-in battery recharges with a standard cable. No app, no subscription, no fuss.
Like all fuel-cell breathalysers, Breathy stays most accurate with an annual recalibration. The sensor is built for thousands of tests over its life, but a yearly service keeps your readings dependable — which matters, because the whole point of owning one is being able to trust the number.
Every Breathy is backed by a 100-day risk-free trial and a 3-year warranty. If it stops working as it should within the warranty period, we'll sort it out. And if it's just not for you in the first 100 days, send it back. This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Yes — we ship Australia-wide, with free shipping on every order. Most metro orders arrive within a few business days, with regional and remote areas taking a little longer. You'll get tracking as soon as your Breathy is on its way.

Breathy is a personal breath-testing aid intended to help you plan ahead and make safer decisions. It is not a medical or evidential device, its readings cannot be used as legal evidence, and it is not a substitute for an official police breath test or for the advice of qualified professionals. The only safe amount of alcohol before driving is none. If you have been drinking, do not drive.

Had two wines at dinner and felt totally fine. Blew 0.06. Would've driven without thinking twice. Now it lives in my handbag and I check before every drive home.

My mate lost his licence last year coming home from the footy. Bought one each for me and my brother the next week. Best $120 I've spent — it's peace of mind, simple as that.

Reads in about five seconds and it's dead easy. I'm not techy at all and had it working out of the box. My P-plater son uses it too — for him it has to be zero, no excuses.

Sceptical at first, figured it'd be a cheap toy. It's not. Lined it up against a mate's pro unit and the numbers matched. Keep it in the glovebox now.

The number is the whole point. "I feel fine" means nothing now — I've blown over when I felt completely normal more than once. Genuinely changed how I think about driving after a few.

Does exactly what it says. Only reason it's four stars is I wish the mouthpiece cap was attached so I'd stop misplacing it. Accuracy's been spot on though.

We do Sunday lunches that turn into long arvos. Now we test before anyone touches the keys. Twice it's meant calling an Uber instead. Worth it for that alone.

Battery lasts ages and recharges off a normal cable. Took it camping, drank around the fire, checked myself before driving into town the next morning. Did its job.

I'm 63 and bought these for the whole family after a scare. Simple enough for me, accurate enough for my son who's a tradie and careful about his licence. Bought a second.

RBT on my street twice this year. I'd rather know my number from this than find out from them. That's literally why I bought it and it's done exactly that.

Bought it for my partner who always insists he's fine to drive. The screen ended that argument permanently. Now he checks without me even asking.

Had it 8 months, still reads consistent every time. Use it every Friday after work drinks. The mornings I'm not sure about, I wait it out. Best buy in years.

Really happy with it. Takes a minute to warm up if it's been sitting in a hot car, but once it's ready the reading is quick and clear. Would buy again.

Three schooners over an afternoon and I blew higher than I ever would've guessed. That alone was worth the price. Eye-opener. Everyone should own one.

Gave one to my dad for Father's Day. He's the type who'd never call himself a risk-taker but never actually checked. Now he does every time. Great gift.

Compact, fits in the centre console, no fuss. The fact it reads to three decimals means I actually trust the number instead of rounding in my own favour like I used to.

Honestly didn't expect to use it much. Now it's part of the routine before any drive home. Found out the morning after counts too — blew over at 9am once. Scary.

I just feel calmer about the drive home now. Check, see the number, make the call. No more guessing in the car park hoping I'm under. Wish I'd bought it years ago.
